actually, turns out I can. the Dee is in town this week, and we had a long discussion about the burdens of life, dealing with stress, and what it means to move on in life.

pretty topical conversation, since Tom is getting ready to be a daddy, and tenacious G is thinking about making the big move to Asia.

Dee doesn’t really have a problem per se, but is feeling a bit overwhelmed by the 2 kids, job, wife, and life in general. with as much success as he has, he doesn’t really have time to enjoy it - at least in ways he used to enjoy life pre-family. also, his success is still measured in relative terms - how good is your raise if some people ended up with more?

I see a couple of things at work here: contentment, and satisfaction. the two words are very similar in meaning (in fact webster’s uses satisfaction in its definition of contentment), but I personally see them as different in application.
