2007 is here - hope everyone had a good new years celebration. lots to riff about, but I wanted to put a stake in the ground for ‘07 before I start to ramble.
probably the biggest difference between the people I used to live/work with, and the ones I live/work with now, is the ability to put thought into action. I actually think a lot of the people here in Hawaii dream bigger dreams in general than my peers in CA, but the amount of action behind it is pathetic. not sure if it’s the attitude of ‘always tomorrow’ most of us on the rock have, the drive towards common mediocrity allowing apathy to rule, or just a general lack of urgency due to being so disconnected from the rest of the nation/world. it could also be
the learned helplessness of the masses really bugs me sometimes. even at the ‘hou, it’s a shame that the attitudes of the kids don’t rub off on some of the old time employees. most of them are truly exceptional, but that just makes the losers stand out more, and affect the collective body that much more.
